Breaking: Councillors to meet to seek ‘censure, suspension or resignation’ of Cllr O’Donnell

first_imgThe SIPO Commission report that found Cllr. John O’Donnell breached the codes of ethics for public representatives on three counts is to be debated at a special meeting of Donegal County Council. The investigation came after an RTE PrimeTime report into ‘Standards in Public Office was aired on December 5th 2015 and three public representatives were interviewed in relation to planning issues by an undercover reporter using hidden cameras and a hidden recording device. It has emerged today that the required number of five councillors have put forward the motion to censure Cllr. O’Donnell and it is expected to be held within the next two weeks. Councillors can debate a number of proposals including censure, suspension or seeking his resignation. It is understood the motion to be debated will call for the resignation of Cllr. O’Donnell. He was not available for comment on this breaking news.Cllr. O’Donnell was one of three Councillors who featured in the undercover investigation by RTE’s Primetime about ‘Standards in Public Office’.Sligo Cllr. Joseph Queenan was also found guilty on three of the four allegations he faced. O’Donnell was found to have breached the public office code of ethics in all three of the allegations levelled at him. County House in LiffordA third investigation into Monaghan councillor Hugh McElvaney has been halted pending a High Court judicial review. The SIPO report found Cllr O’Donnell offered to provide significant assistance to potential wind farm investors in exchange for a financial reward, agreed to work as a member of a local authority on the promise of a future payment by investors and that he failed to uphold the Code of Conduct for Councillors. SIPOC said he committed these offences intentionally and that he did not act in good faith. The Commission decided that he had recklessly agreed to help the fictitious company in return for a financial reward not upheld the Code of Conduct in his dealings with the undercover reporter. It also said he had negligently failed to properly declare his interests to the CouncilCllr. O’Donnell has expressed his disappointment with the SIPO conclusions that found he had acted incorrectly on three counts with regard to the ethics of local government legislation. He said it was important to point out that the SIPO Commission hearing was not about any ‘criminal process’ and as such he said his record has not been tarnished in serving the people of Donegal within the terms of the Local Government Act.Breaking: Councillors to meet to seek ‘censure, suspension or resignation’ of Cllr O’Donnell was last modified: April 1st, 2019 by Staff WriterShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Cllr John O’Donnellcouncildonegallast_img read more

Lighting for Video: Light Stands

first_imgIf you’re shooting with lights on set, make sure they’re equipped with the right light support. Check out this video to learn about the different types of light stands, including which is best for your production needs. In our ongoing series on Lighting for Video we’re taking a look at the different types of professional film/video lights, and their subsequent accessories. In this video, we examine the different types of light stands and make considerations for which to use in different video/film productions situations. The most common light stand is the C-stand, known for it’s 3 legs of varied heights. The height variation in the legs allows you to nest C-Stands very close to one another, without sacrificing stability. Their heavy, sturdy form makes them ideal for supporting large lighting instruments (a must have on any big film set).Unlike C-stands, lightweight light stands are much more portable and inexpensive. They’re great for one man band shooters and small crews, but can’t handle heavy weight loads. Other types of light stands include, boom stands, short stands and uni stands. In this video tutorial we touch on each.Light stands can also be useful for supporting not just lights, but also audio equipment (booms), flags/gels and other filmmaking equipment.Be sure to check out all the videos in our Lighting for Video tutorial series!last_img read more

Enes Kanter goes for 26 in Game 1 even with sore shoulder

(AP Photo/David Zalubowski)DENVER — Enes Kanter didn’t even think about his sore left shoulder as he soared in for a first-quarter dunk and hung from the rim with his left hand. Then, the Portland center grimaced and briefly grabbed the shoulder.ADVERTISEMENT MOST READ Cayetano: Senate, Drilon to be blamed for SEA Games mess “I told him to just dunk it with his right hand, rather than put two on it,” Meyers Leonard said.Sound advice. Now more treatment awaits as he and the Blazers try to rebound in Game 2 on Wednesday.“Just keep playing through it,” Kanter said. “Pain killers, injections, anything I can do to help my teammates. Doesn’t matter. One arm, two arm, I’m going to go out there and help my teammates win.”Kanter hit 11 of 14 shots and all four free throws. He also grabbed seven rebounds.ADVERTISEMENT “Enes was terrific,” Blazers coach Terry Stotts said. “He was very efficient, finished around the basket, playing through the shoulder injury. I couldn’t have asked for anymore from him.”The Blazers struggled to stop Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic, who scored 37 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Kanter tried to slow him down, but simply couldn’t. No one could for the Blazers. The player nicknamed The Joker was unstoppable.“He kind of got what he wanted all night,” said forward Maurice Harkless, who fouled out with just over three minutes remaining. “We’ve just got to do a good job of making it tough on him, whether it’s being physical or whatever it is. We’ve got to make it harder for him.”Kanter was waived by the New York Knicks following the trade deadline and signed by the Blazers just before the All-Star break as a backup to starter Jusuf Nurkic. But Kanter became an even more valuable asset for Portland when Nurkic broke his leg in an overtime victory at home over the Brooklyn Nets on March 25.Sports Related Videospowered by AdSparcRead Next Duterte wants probe of SEA Games mess LATEST STORIES View comments Panelo: Duterte ‘angry’ with SEA Games hosting hassles Philippine Arena Interchange inauguratedcenter_img DA eyes importing ‘galunggong’ anew LOOK: Lady Tamaraws get ‘merienda’ treat from Tigresses On the bench soon after, Kanter pointed to his head as if to say he needed to be more cautious with his injury.Sore shoulder and all, Kanter finished with 26 points in a 121-113 loss to the Denver Nuggets on Monday night in Game 1 of the Western Conference semifinals. first_imgCardiff boss Warnock backing Dyche over anti-dive pushby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveCardiff City boss Neil Warnock supports Burnley counterpart Sean Dyche over his criticism of diving in England.Dyche has spoken about diving saying ‘no-one seems to want to do anything about it apart from me’. And Warnock says: “I agree with him. We all know the top clubs get away with a lot more than the bottom clubs. We all know that, we’re not daft.”You breathe on some of them and they’re down like a shot and the referees automatically point.”It’s not just now, it’s been like that since my dad refereed. It’s just human nature with atmospheres and crowds.”There’s only one group that can actually change the diving element and that’s the people that make the rules.”Like Sean said, it’s not the referees because players are too clever now.”The FA or whoever makes the rules have to look at the obvious ones. There’s been more obvious ones than ever before.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your saylast_img read more

We are conceding fewer goals than last season,” he said.”Last year we were letting in too many goals, but we are defending better and from there the team is improving.”Of course, when you defend well, the team is bound to improve. We have some great players up front and we just have to keep on improving.”The team is a lot more compact and from that base I think the team is only going to get better, and we will be much stronger and a more difficult team to beat.” last_img read more

Sami Khedira accepts Atalanta deserved to win

first_imgJuventus midfielder Sami Khedira conceded they were second-best to Atalanta and deservedly paid the price for it.Massimiliano Allegri’s side fell to their first domestic defeat of the campaign by losing 3-0 in Bergamo to Atalanta on Wednesday night to end their hopes of a fifth successive Coppa Italia crown.Even with the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo and Paulo Dybala in the starting line-up, Juventus were unable to threaten an Atalanta side that were clearly at the top of their game in front of their home supporters for the quarter-final tie.Right-back Timothy Castagne gave Atalanta the lead in the 37th-minute with Colombian forward Duvan Zapata then doubling their advantage before the break and then sealing the victory by adding a second goal late on.Juventus had chances though to get back into the game in the second half with Khedira’s volley representing their best chance in scoring. But the former Real Madrid star saw his effort denied superbly by Atalanta goalkeeper Etrit Berisha.Speaking after their quarter-final exit, Khedira acknowledged that the best team won on the night.Mario Mandzukic, JuventusJuventus confirm Mario Mandzukic could leave this month Andrew Smyth – September 14, 2019 Sporting director Fabio Paratici confirmed reports that Mario Mandzukic could leave Juventus for a move to an unnamed Qatari team.“It’s difficult and sad to lose like that, but it’s part of football and we have to accept it,” said Khedira on the club website.“It wasn’t our best night and Atalanta had a great game. They deserved the win and we wish them good luck for the semi-finals.”Despite the setback, Khedira urged the team to bounce back and return their focus back to the Serie A.“These games can happen over the course of the season,” he said.“Of course, it hurts more when it’s a sudden-death game, but it won’t have any consequences for our league campaign.“We made too many mistakes and Atalanta took advantage of them – we didn’t deserve to go through.”Juventus will next take on Parma on Saturday in Turin for a Serie A match.last_img read more
