Goo Goo Dolls to perform for Griffith Park recovery benefit
The Goo Goo Dolls will perform at The Greek Theatre tonight for a concert benefiting the Griffith Park Recovery Fund. The band was originally scheduled to perform at the theater June 19. Tickets for that show will be honored at tonight’s performance. “We are honored to headline such an important concert and kick off this concert series at The Greek Theatre,” said John Rzeznik, lead singer of the Goo Good Dolls. A fire broke out May 8, just east of the Hollywood sign. About 800 acres, or about a fifth of the urban park, was burned. The city has embarked on a $50 million plan to restore the charred hillsides. The concert will be produced by Nederlander Concerts. “We are so excited and appreciative of Nederlander’s commitment to our Griffith Park Recovery effort,” said Councilman Tom LaBonge. “When the Goo Goo Dolls take the stage, we’ll be there wildly applauding as we will for any and all bands and individuals who want to help restore the greatest urban park in the country.” The show starts at 7:15 p.m. 160Want local news?Sign up for the Localist and stay informed Something went wrong.
